Learn to either enjoy in solitude or suffer in silence. Its ok to give yourself a 5-10 second evaluation after each shot but talking to the ball or commenting after each shot is unnecessary. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="316" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wkpOhtkeK7o" width="520" youtube-src-id="wkpOhtkeK7o"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-52107030654375426412024-03-04T12:28:00.000-08:002024-03-04T12:29:08.271-08:00Fill your Wedge Yardage Gaps<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You need to fill your wedge yardage gaps with three if not four wedges. I carry four wedges with 4 degrees difference in each wedge start at 45 degrees (PW). This gives me 15 yards between wedges starting at 70 yards with my 57 degree wedge. It also gives me more choices around the green.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="316" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zGhzVOK4sNU" width="520" youtube-src-id="zGhzVOK4sNU"></iframe></div><br /> <p></p>Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-27032516161181995862024-02-26T14:37:00.000-08:002024-02-26T14:37:27.326-08:00Chipping Made Easy<p>This is an easy way to become a consistent chipper of the ball. The technique is based on having your hands oppose each other and position the club more upright so it sits more on the toe to get the leading edge off the ground. This will help your consistency and avoid chunking the ball.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="316" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bNNYTO3Lt6g" width="520" youtube-src-id="bNNYTO3Lt6g"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-17013618053651593762024-02-24T13:17:00.000-08:002024-02-24T13:17:59.737-08:00The Hybrid…Swing it Like a Wood or an Iron?<p>The lie of the ball will determine whether you play the hybrid like a wood or an iron. If the ball is sitting nicely on the fairway, on a tee from the teeing ground or sitting up in the rough then play it like a fairway wood. If the ball is sitting in a depression or a divot in the fairway, or is sitting down in the rough, then play it like an iron. The iron swing will be a bit more vertical causing a divot. The ball will come out lower from the bad lie so use a more lofted hybrid.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="316" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Yw_CkYL_Chs" width="520" youtube-src-id="Yw_CkYL_Chs"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-88619195920770597902024-02-19T14:54:00.000-08:002024-02-19T14:54:46.224-08:00Dial in your Wedge Yardages<p> Dial in your wedge yardages starting with a 50 yard baseline shot with your most lofted wedge. It’s a matter of combining your length of backswing with speed to obtain 50 yards. I would err on a softer swing rather than a hard swing. Once you get 50 yards dialed in, just change the length of your swing to carry 30,40, 60 and then your full swing yardage. I carry four wedges and my full swing difference between wedges is 15 yards. </p><p>57 degree - 70 yards, 53 degree - 85 yards, 49 degree - 100 yards, 45 degree - 115 yards</p><p>Your yardages may vary but I recommend even loft increments to fill any voids.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="316" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hXdl5R3wkkA" width="520" youtube-src-id="hXdl5R3wkkA"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-34638541638264038772024-02-17T13:10:00.000-08:002024-02-17T13:10:27.932-08:00Use your Imagination to Hit Draws and Fades<p> The beach ball is a great visual to understand draw/fade spin. To hit a draw you imagine the ball spinning counter clockwise. To accomplish this the toe of the club has to pass the heel. To hit a fade you imagine the ball spinning clockwise. To accomplish this the heel has to lead the toe. The impact bag drill enforces your feels and then you introduce the ball. Start with small swings and with each success you can increase the swing. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="316" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/KxjFVPSnxmw" width="520" youtube-src-id="KxjFVPSnxmw"></iframe></div><br /> <p></p>Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-53564151886744750022024-02-10T11:31:00.000-08:002024-02-10T11:32:06.324-08:00To Knee or not to Knee<p>How much your lead knee moves in the backswing is determined by your flexibility. Some players need more movement, some less. From the 1930’s through the 1970’s we saw a lot of movement of the lead knee with tour players and from the 1980’s to current we see less. Experiment and see what works best for you.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="316" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gSP3a9Tmfs0" width="520" youtube-src-id="gSP3a9Tmfs0"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-66747645045748628792024-02-07T15:19:00.000-08:002024-02-07T15:19:20.176-08:00Fairway Bunker Shots<p> Analyze your lie and choose the correct club for success. Visualize each hole and hit the shot you would need to play the hole. For example starting on the first hole and it’s a par four. Hit a tee shot, then based on how where it the ball goes, hit an approach shot. Continue until you’ve played each hole. If you only have time for a few shots, then pick a hole you normally have issues with. This is also a way to break up your practice sessions and make practice more realistic.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="316" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pXCX8xq7hQo" width="520" youtube-src-id="pXCX8xq7hQo"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-22830186390994541742024-01-31T15:11:00.000-08:002024-01-31T15:11:21.228-08:00Improve Course Management to Lower your Score <p> Good course management will improve your score! There are all kinds of tools on the market which will help you get faster. But, don’t forget you need to be able to control that speed and still make solid contact! I really like the tools I’m using and they have helped improve my strength, flexibility and speed. They have also helped improve my rhythm and tempo.</p><p>I’m using the Gold Flex (SKLZ), the Weighted Club (Momentous Golf) and the Weighted 7 Iron (SKLZ). </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='520' height='316' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxHOyPPAyedG2VM3_YCzR3oG0hTQw5X_sDD8inGwqPGYp1qMElB-XMshBjxqc74GlNTOzHBjSiprCanajewLA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVm_yl3Q8o6dq1gqFri-SpHjVwk0ePYnVbLoOF0YiGsV-KW95IytodfxP-nrtMI2W-toYwm1NkSXewVGGnjWMIRCs7KB3gtSviL8Mmkysp6Mt_ArmcarHTSrkkRimQ4nWmhktisiMyQW_t1l2x-oV0lubH_uHQ1sSYFUhedugYyifGKWRmTPctszPyHJZb/s2048/F31A2425-0954-4FF6-AD2F-29459470A693.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVm_yl3Q8o6dq1gqFri-SpHjVwk0ePYnVbLoOF0YiGsV-KW95IytodfxP-nrtMI2W-toYwm1NkSXewVGGnjWMIRCs7KB3gtSviL8Mmkysp6Mt_ArmcarHTSrkkRimQ4nWmhktisiMyQW_t1l2x-oV0lubH_uHQ1sSYFUhedugYyifGKWRmTPctszPyHJZb/w400-h400/F31A2425-0954-4FF6-AD2F-29459470A693.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipThJCleCRjiTUNpaNwCeHIHWUVUcEOv-PfXsgrzqrONxHwv-R_QCllebtqLquNfwoXmbB4ZOK_2po24oXQ3RvWxryEeyN2lpscNlt7f69Zg-6nwPg-4cMJQPC4UBcrefPKELW0zqayO5UXLhS342mVdsdMTFxgCIvSWTmOAAnjYCacYDuWXrKvB6brdC4/s1170/IMG_1440.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1037" data-original-width="1170" height="355" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipThJCleCRjiTUNpaNwCeHIHWUVUcEOv-PfXsgrzqrONxHwv-R_QCllebtqLquNfwoXmbB4ZOK_2po24oXQ3RvWxryEeyN2lpscNlt7f69Zg-6nwPg-4cMJQPC4UBcrefPKELW0zqayO5UXLhS342mVdsdMTFxgCIvSWTmOAAnjYCacYDuWXrKvB6brdC4/w400-h355/IMG_1440.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br />Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-90335442091824118162024-01-14T07:37:00.000-08:002024-01-14T07:37:20.044-08:00Trail Arm Position for Better Ball Striking<p style="text-align: justify;"> This is a great way to get your trail arm in the correct position in the set up, keep you on plane and deliver the club “in the slot” on the downswing. Plus I highly recommend you find and read Power Golf by Ben Hogan as it has some great pictures of Ben Hogan’s swing. It is definitely one of my favorite instructional books!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="316" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BVdFQHKogOc" width="520" youtube-src-id="BVdFQHKogOc"></iframe></div><br /><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p>Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-89893002423681221202023-12-27T17:40:00.000-08:002023-12-27T18:28:32.352-08:00How to Play Uneven Lies Around the Green<p>Uneven lies around the green can cause some issues. These tips will help you with uphill/downhill lies in particular. The general rule is don’t fight the hill! For an uphill lie set your body angle with the hill…there will be more weight on the back leg and play the ball forward of center in your stance. For a downhill lie play the ball behind center and more weight will be on the front leg.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="316" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oBD14Cr0DrU" width="520" youtube-src-id="oBD14Cr0DrU"></iframe></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p>Theses pictures reflect the difference in an uphill/downhill lie.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuex7kszOkOztjmM1gOPGcSkCNpxFOxP5H-jZd3fwd5FQ-06Q5M-0AT30D7B4U9g3kWsSdx6uKHvLY6RRCnBIoeAak-1Zq_Ws4RW5r43tC4m94fG960XNrRh_zYCCxqmqkn6IJ57YRAKrcGjr9ExuKeLtHBIjUMQC9XUq8tM4DVj67EKfCUXVc_ZoxrDgQ/s2532/IMG_1217.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2532" data-original-width="1170" height="604" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuex7kszOkOztjmM1gOPGcSkCNpxFOxP5H-jZd3fwd5FQ-06Q5M-0AT30D7B4U9g3kWsSdx6uKHvLY6RRCnBIoeAak-1Zq_Ws4RW5r43tC4m94fG960XNrRh_zYCCxqmqkn6IJ57YRAKrcGjr9ExuKeLtHBIjUMQC9XUq8tM4DVj67EKfCUXVc_ZoxrDgQ/w276-h604/IMG_1217.jpeg" width="276" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKeA1sOD_aHkLwspjxrU0DcEorJW0dzQYoEIMB84NmVqTsa-L6rUyA35gzB13IAy6SK5o34PGpazlN906QQfkCinjpXsTK6v_S29mqhzo-32DT7UFprCdEzX0Ki3qx2BCJRcBbbf35kiE4ZN-CsWn6V6jeu1950odeKOwuaeZs-jmaJCOVeqmcQrUX6kfB/s1985/IMG_1218.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1985" data-original-width="1169" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKeA1sOD_aHkLwspjxrU0DcEorJW0dzQYoEIMB84NmVqTsa-L6rUyA35gzB13IAy6SK5o34PGpazlN906QQfkCinjpXsTK6v_S29mqhzo-32DT7UFprCdEzX0Ki3qx2BCJRcBbbf35kiE4ZN-CsWn6V6jeu1950odeKOwuaeZs-jmaJCOVeqmcQrUX6kfB/w283-h480/IMG_1218.jpeg" width="283" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Garry Rippy Golfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12587660189571369404noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3976177323856488406.post-24444825583168877842023-12-25T12:15:00.000-08:002023-12-25T12:15:57.167-08:00Improve the Balance in your Swing with this Visual<p>If you find you lose your balance in your golf swing then this drill will help.
